Erlene's barbecued meatballs

 

Meatballs:

 

2 lbs. ground beef

2 eggs

3/4 tsp. salt

1/3 C. grated cheese

2 Tbs. minced onion

3/4 c. milk

1-1/2 C. bread crumbs

pepper

1 T. Worcestershire sauce

8-10 hot buttered buns

 

Sauce:

 

2 Tbs. bacon drippings

2 tsp. worcestershire sauce

1 sm. minced onion

1/2 tsp. dry mustard

1 C. catsup

salt, pepper and chili powder

1/3 c. brown sugar

  to taste

1-1/2 Tbs. vinegar

 1/4-1/2 tsp. liquid smoke

 

Mix and shape meat mixture into balls and place in baking pan.  Bake at 325 until excess fat can be poured off.  Then pour sauce over meat balls and finish baking until nicely browned.

 

Sauce:   Brown onions and bacon.  Then add other ingredients and simmer about 15 mon.
