ITALIAN CHEESE BREAD

 

Bread:

 

2-2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

1 c. warm water (120-130 F.)

1 t. salt

1 T. vegetable oil

1 t. sugar

 

1 T. quick-rise yeast

 

 

Topping:

 

1/4 -1/3 c. prepared Italian                  Salad Dressing

1 T. grated Parmesan cheese (use fresh if available)

1/4 t. salt

1/2 c. mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/4 t. garlic powder

 

1/4 t. dried thyme

 

dash pepper

 

 

In a bowl, combine first four ingredients.  Combine water and oil:  add to flour mixture.  Add additional flour if  needed to make a soft dough.  Turn onto floured surface and knead for 1-2 min. or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top . Cover and let rise 20 min. in a warm place.

Punch dough down; place on greased 12-inch pizza pan and pat into a 12-inch circle.  Brush with salad dressing.  Combine the seasonings; sprinkle over top and then sprinkle with cheeses.  Bake at 450 degrees for 15 min.  or until golden brown.  Serve warm.
