Mary’s Sugar Cookies


1-1/2 C. powdered sugar

1/2 tsp. almond flavoring

1 C.  butter (margarine)

2-1/2 C. flour

1 egg

1 tsp. baking soda

1 t vanilla

1 tsp. cream of tartar


Cream sugar and butter. Mix in egg and flavorings.  Blend dry ingredinets and stir in.  Refrigerate 2-3 hours.  Divide dough in half and roll out on lightly floured pastry cloth to 3/16” thickness.  Cut into desired shapes.  Sprinkle with sugar.  Place on lightly greased baking sheets.  Bake at 375 degrees.  for 7-8 min.  or until delicately browned.    Yield:  5 doz.
